Anya Gallaccio is an installation artist. She often works with organic materials such as flowers and fruit to explore concepts of change and transformation.

Notable works include Red on Green (1992), comprising thousands of rose heads and stalks, and Intensities and Surfaces (1996), a giant block of ice left to thaw and melt away in the boiler room of London's Wapping Pump Station.

Gallaccio studied at Kingston Polytechnic and Goldsmiths College in the 1980s. In 1988 she took part in Damien Hirst’s Freeze exhibition alongside the Young British Artists. In 2003 she was shortlisted for the Turner Prize.

Gallaccio is represented by Thomas Dane Gallery, London.
