Caragh Thuring

Caragh Thuring, born in 1973, is a British painter who studied Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University, UK.Thuring’s pictures are built to depict collisions between the man-made and the natural worlds. Often using recurring imagery such as pyramids, brickwork, volcanoes and the human silhouette, a narrative evolves from the restricted and fragmented information on the painting. At times working with a silk weaver and a tapestry maker, Thuring creates woven material that can serve as new surfaces for her paintings.

Thuring has exhibited widely across the world, with solo exhibitions at The Chisenhale Gallery, London; Simon Preston Gallery, New York and the Westminster Waste, London. In 2024 Thuring was elected as a Royal Academician in the category of Painting by The Royal Academy of Arts, London.

Caragh Thuring lives and works between London and Argyll in Scotland, and is represented by Thomas Dane Gallery in London and Anthony Meier in San Francisco.
