Daniel Holdsworth

Dan Holdsworth is a British artist who blends art, science and nature to create work which challenge our perceptions and reinvent the notion of landscape.

Born in 1974, in Welwyn Garden City, England, he studied photography at the London College of Communication between 1996 and 1998. In his early practice, Holdworth became known for his photography of vast, isolated spaces at night achieved using long exposures.

Holdsworth has exhibited widely, with notable solo shows held at the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland; Southampton City Art Gallery, Southampton; BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead and Barbican Art Gallery, London, Art Basel, Basel, Hong Kong and Miami. He has also participated in group shows held at Tate Britain, London, Centre Pompidou, Paris, Gagosian Gallery London and Victoria Miro, London. His works are held in public collections including the Tate Collection, Government Art Collection, Saatchi Collection, The Denver Art Museum Collection and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Holdsworth has been the recent recipient of the prestigious The Audemars Piguet Art Commission and The Rolls-Royce Art Programme Commission.

Dan Holdsworth lives and works in Northumberland, England.
