Derek Boshier Bio
Derek Boshier emerged in the early 1960s as a pioneering figure in the British Pop Art movement. Working in various media including drawing, printmaking, film, books, sculpture, installations and photography, Boshier’s practice ranged from pop art to politically radical conceptual art, and covered topics from gun control and police brutality to the practices of multinational corporations.
Since his first solo exhibition in 1962, Boshier exhibited widely, nationally and internationally and his work can be found in public collections including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; British Council and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
Through his graphic work for bands and musicians, such as The Clash and David Bowie, the artist’s work reached an even wider audience.
Alongside his art practice, Boshier was an accomplished teacher and lecturer and in 2016 was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal College of Art, London.
In the following year, 2017, Boshier was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship and in 2021 he received an Honorary Doctorate of the Arts from Solent University in Southampton, UK.
Derek Boshier is represented by Gazelli Art House in London.
