Selma Parlour is a London-based artist who explores the medium of painting through investigations of surface, space and the repetition of shapes.

Through transparent washes of oil paint, Parlour's meticulous surfaces bear no trace of the artist’s brush strokes. This results in a print-like aesthetic and finish of colour that appears to glow.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Parlour grew up in the UK. She attended De Montfort University, Leicester; University of Reading; and Goldsmiths College, University of London where she completed a PhD in Art in 2014.

She has had solo exhibitions at The House of Saint Barnabas, London (2016); Dio Horia, Mykonos (2015); and MOT International Projects, London (2012). In 2016 she was awarded a prize at the John Moores Painting Prize and was a finalist in the Marmite Prize for Painting V. Her works are held in public and private collections around the world including The Creative Cities Collection, Beijing and Saatchi Gallery, London. Parlour is represented by Pi Artworks in Istanbul and London.
